This time we’re focusing on details. The details inside the cutaway on the bow have been worked out, so I move on to the top section.

This is me adding to the model my own flare if you will. The giant claw like pods and lots of radiator-like panels and one dome cover which is obviously the approach radar. I’ve tried to keep the details symmetrical, but with some variation to make it interesting to the eye.

Detailing models with kit parts is an art form. Trust me. You either manage to pull it off and it looks amazing, or it looks terrible and everyone say’s, “Oh that’s just a tank barrel.”

This is the hero side of the model that will be on the cover photo. I’ve spent lots of time making panels of thinner styrene and adding details here and there.

Close up of some machinery in a triangle area. I just didn’t feel like cutting a panel to match that angle. LOL

More panel and detail greeblies. This is my favorite part of scratch modeling a starship.

This is the top deck and stern or poop deck area. Gonna mount a large antenna on that circular post in the middle. Might be the last thing I make for the model.

I started building the greenhouse area over the flight deck before realizing I would not be able to paint or detail it after doing that. So I got to add more details and will have to fire up the airbrush soon.

I’ll probably add some pipes and wires for ducting and then paint the decking. I have a 1/350 scale set of deck trucks and other hardware that I’ll add. I will also be building a squadron of starfighters to spread all over the deck. Should be fun.
