I need a name for the curious everyman hero of the story. I figure he would be a child of the late seventies or early eighties. The most popular male name of that period is Michael. His sir name should be common too. Jones or Smith. Michael Smith… mmmm, tempting. Been done. Valentine Michael Smith – RAH. I like Joey, but I used that name in a vampire novel. Christopher Jones, Chris Lee, Tyler is popular, but I know too many Tylers. Has to be meek sounding not macho. We have to be able to relate to the guy. We see the events of the story through his eyes. I’ll come back to this.
