2024, Where Did You Go?

I must have skipped my annual “I’m still here” post this year. Well, I’m still here. Better late than never.

This year has been a disrupted one for me. I’ve changed my life and re-prioritized my focus on many things. It’s also been a year of travel to new and familiar places. The summer fire season has been the worst in decades around these parts. I could not run outside for most of the summer due to hazardous air quality. Luckily, that has disappeared, and I am back to my usual outdoor running.

My wife and I went on a spring cruise to Alaska. We had a wonderful time. If you ever get the chance to see Alaska, go for it. It is a wilder place on earth than I have ever been to. My son and I went to Vegas this month for the Polaris Dawn Splashdown party. He works for the Ghost Squadron, which is a part of the Polaris group. Meeting the astronauts and partying with the people who helped make that mission happen was fun. Later this month, my wife and I will visit my family in Arizona. After that trip, we’re done for the year.

I have not been writing any new material this year but have been editing the final three novellas in the Starship Series. I aim to publish them in December, so keep looking for that release date. I’m also close to finally releasing Betweos, my stand-alone SF novel. I don’t recommend trying to self-publish four books at once to anyone. I won’t be doing that again.

My model bench has been idle over the hot, smokey summer. I’m back at it now, though, building the Franklin model that will appear on the re-release of Starstrikers, hopefully, next year. Getting to work in the garage on the model and listening to Hardcore History podcasts has been fun.

I’d better get back to work on all those book blurbs and covers. I promise to have more updates on the blog in 2025. In the meantime, please do follow me on Mastodon. Oh, and please do vote in November!
